Avenel
Until the late 1970s, Avenel was known for its rolling farmland. This was a home for horses and cattle, not the premiere residential community that it is today. The Avenel Equestrian Center preserves the legacy of Avenel Farm with its distinctive barn, horse stables, riding facilities and bridle paths throughout the neighborhood. Residences overlook the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm which is a spectacular 18-hole private golf course on 220 acres. The Swim and Tennis Club and Avenel Park provide recreational facilities with swimming, tennis, playgrounds, fields and more. Avenel offers luxury townhomes and single family homes in Potomac and Bethesda.
Most homes in Avenel are assigned to Churchill High School, Cabin John Middle School and Seven Locks Elementary School.
